Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Ibrahim Abubakar Kana mni, has stated that Nigeria's strong economy and its population are good for business ventures. Kana made this declaration while receiving the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) in his office today, 15th September, 2025.

Stating that the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development’s visit to China has yielded fruit with the courtesy call by COMAC, Kana said the Hon. Minister would have loved to receive them himself but was unavoidably absent due to other commitments.

Kana promised to enable the manufacturing company to interface with Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), key agencies of the Ministry, and other stakeholders, promising a more robust engagement when the company participates in the Nigeria Airshow slated for December, 2025, which they have indicated interest in. The Permanent Secretary further suggested that the MD NSIB and MD NCAA, and others, based on their technical competence, visit COMAC for possible technical approval for the use of the aircraft in Nigeria.

MD, Nigeria Safety and Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Alex Badeh said as a pilot, he has been following COMAC and is optimistic of COMAC and Nigeria relationship. He stated that Nigeria is underserved in terms of aircraft, while affirming that Nigeria is the best place for COMAC to come and invest.

MD/CEO, Nigeria Airshow, Bria Williams stated that COMAC coming to invest in Nigeria was timely, adding that Nigeria was the right country to invest due to its centrality (Location), particularly in terms of investing in MRO facility of aircraft.  She said the forthcoming Nigeria Airshow will provide COMAC the opportunity to showcase their product to the entire Aviation ecosystem.

Speaking earlier, Deputy General Manager COMAC Marketing and Sales Centre, Yang Yang and the leader of the Team expressed the willingness of COMAC to invest in Nigeria, stating that Nigeria is strategically located. He said the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) is a Chinese state-owned aerospace manufacturer established on 11th May 2008 in Shanghai. He said the company has registered capital of RMB 19 billion. And was established jointly by the Aviation Industry Corporation of China [AVIC], Aluminium Corporation of China, Baosteel Group Corporation, Sinochem Group, Shanghai Guosheng Corporation Limited, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission.
He said COMAC has developed a C909 twin-engine, single aisle, short-range and C919 twin-engine single aisle, short- medium range among others.
