In a bid to further strengthen collaboration and build workforce, the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development and the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) on Monday, 30th June, 2025 set up a committee to finalize the hosting of the maiden Nigeria International Airshow event slated for December 2025.
During a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Air Force, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Dr Ibrahim Abubakar Kana mni thanked the Nigeria Airforce for their professional conduct over the years and explained that the visit was to further extend hands of collaboration with the NAF to ensure a successful hosting of Nigeria the Airshow.
While stating that airshows around the world comprise both Civil and Military, Dr Kana appealed to the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) to deploy his wealth of knowledge and platforms of the NAF to ensure the committee delivers its mandate accurately and on time. He enumerated the following key areas expected by the Air Force to include: A spectacular Air Display to showcase Nigeria’s air power and perform a Ceremonial parade for the President and visiting government delegations. Dr. Kana further informed and invited the CAS to a meeting with all ambassadors to Nigeria, which is being facilitated by the foreign affairs ministers. He informed the CAS that the Ministry has successfully held meetings with foreign airline operators and other stakeholders who have pledged their full cooperation. He charged the committee to decide on the appropriate venue for the event and bring on board other stakeholders. Similarly, it was decided that the exhibition would include world-leading civil and defence aviation companies, where they would display their goods and services. It is hoped that the event would serve as a platform for business transactions, which would not only boost Nigeria's economy but culture and tourism.
In his remarks, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Mashal Hassan Bala Abubakar said the Nigeria Air Force is equipped with capable hands that can handle the Nigeria Airshow and stated that NAF is happy to collaborate with the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development. He said the 1st ever Nigeria Airshow is a national event, and a pride to the NAF will bring honour to the country and enhance economic viability. Hence, NAF will deploy all its resources to ensure it succeeds.
"Let the Committee go ahead and decide the venue of the event, work out other modalities; we have credible hands to partner with the Ministry of Aviation, thus we must do everything possible to ensure the success of the event". The CAS stated.
While thanking Dr. Kana, for the visit, Air Marshal Abubakar emboldened the Committee to swing into action and promised to give the Committee all the necessary support.
